Does LNDMRK paint murals in private homes?
Its business is producing monumental works for brands, developers and cities; for a domestic project you should ask them directly. On our side, the living-room wall, the stairwell and the shopfront are our daily work.
What does a mural cost, compared with a LNDMRK-produced project?
We do not comment on another house's budgets. With us the price depends on surface, preparation and artist: the fast online quote gives an order of magnitude before anyone travels, and nothing is committed until you say yes.
Are your artists the same ones LNDMRK programmes at the MURAL festival?
The Montréal scene is small and paths cross: several artists we represent have painted for festivals, here and abroad. Each artist page documents their murals, so you will see straight away who painted what.
Can I commission a canvas rather than a mural, which a producer like LNDMRK doesn't do?
Yes, and it is often the best starting point. A canvas sized to your wall arrives in three to six weeks, costs far less than a site job, and moves house with you. If the urge for large format comes later, the artist is still there.
What does a mural job with you involve, next to an LNDMRK production?
Fast online quote, site visit, surface preparation, execution by the artist, then a final protective coat. We commit to duration and date before starting, and we protect furniture. For an interior, usually one to three days on site.
Do you work with businesses, as LNDMRK does with its brands?
Yes: offices, lobbies, hotels, restaurants and retail, with corporate invoicing, selection from photos of the space, and hanging. Our scale is a space people work in, not a ten-storey façade.
Can a mural be removed or moved, whether it came from LNDMRK or from you?
A mural is painted on the wall: it stays with the building. That is precisely why we also offer large-format canvas : same gesture, same artist, but the work follows you when you move.
Can I see a muralist's work before committing, without waiting for an LNDMRK project?
Yes, in our two Montréal galleries, at 163 Saint-Paul West and 4455 Saint-Denis, open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Seeing a canvas by an artist's own hand tells you far more than a portfolio on screen.
Do you take projects outside Montréal, as LNDMRK does internationally?
Murals are concentrated in Greater Montréal, where the artist can travel without unreasonable mission costs. Canvases, on the other hand, ship anywhere: Canada, United States, Europe, with tracking.
Do you need the landlord's or the city's approval, as for an LNDMRK project?
Indoors, the landlord's consent is enough if you rent. Outdoors it depends on the borough and on visibility from the street: we tell you at the site visit what applies, and we start nothing until it is settled.
