Vodniciar Alina Artwork Drawing «Family Portrait» — 70x100cm colored pencils on drawing paper 2024 (2024)

This realistic Portrait, rendered in graphite and colored pencils, depicts a smiling family of five. The artist employs delicate strokes and a subtle color palette to capture warm expressions and detailed features such as glasses and hair. The composition is centered and balanced, with a textured background that highlights the subjects. The artwork conveys a friendly and intimate mood, showcasing the artist's technical skill and sensitivity in portraying group portraits. This Artwork is a Family Portrait consisting of 5 people, commissioned at the end of 2024. I received several photographs from which I had to gather and select the position of each person. I decided to position the parents on the sides and the children in the middle. Given that there were 5 portraits in a single format, it was necessary to find a composition so that all the people would not be positioned along the same line. While seeking to arrange the composition, I chose to position the people in a zigzag formation from left to right, paying attention to each portrait and to the dimensions of each person in relation to the others, so that they would correspond correctly to the age of each child and have the correct proportions in relation to the adults. The Drawing of the entire family was assembled from different photographs in which the subjects were in different positions, and it fitted perfectly onto the largest drawing sheet, measuring 70×100cm, given that it had been established from the beginning that it would be a Family Portrait without hands. I drew each person in coloured pencils, capturing their facial expressions, character, and the natural smiles of the children and parents. I made an effort to ensure that their gazes, smiles, and closeness conveyed naturalness, warmth, and affection. I paid attention to all the details, to the combination of the colours of the clothing and hair with the delicate tones of the background, so that it would keep the attention focused on the faces in the portrait. At the same time, I made sure to preserve the individuality of each person in this Drawing, while all five subjects together formed a harmonious, complete Family Portrait, full of life and personality. The final drawing was mounted on a white plastic board so that it would not fold, and it was delivered to the person who commissioned it. In fact, it was a special gift for their family. The person who placed the order put the Portrait in a frame under glass and then sent us a photograph of the Artwork already framed and hanging on the wall at home.
