Nephelion of Hydreugène

Néphélion d'Hydreugène was born from a commissioned painting. Eugène gave me complete creative freedom. The only thing he asked for was a palette of masculine, earthy colors so the artwork would naturally fit into his living room. Everything else was up to me. Those colors are what gave birth to this landscape. The immense clouds came first, followed by the factories, the road, and the mountains. I also wanted to portray Eugène as a caricature in my own artistic style. I truly think it looks like him. I've always had a soft spot for industrial landscapes. I find a strange, almost melancholic beauty in them. Néphélion, meaning cloud, came naturally as I looked at this immense sky. Hydreugène is simply a play on Eugène's name. I'm almost certain this landscape will find its way into one of my stories someday. Some places seem to wait patiently for a second life.
