Internal Combustion

This work depicts a body transformed into a candle. A human form that becomes matter, capable of melting, deforming, and producing its own light. The head, positioned like a wick, acts as a trigger. That is where it all begins. Not a thought, but an intensity. The flowing material evokes a sense of loss, but also of continuity. Nothing truly disappears; everything shifts, transforms, and changes states. The vibrations surrounding the head and hands convey a flowing energy, as if the body were no longer a container but a passageway. What is depicted here is not a visible flame, but the process that makes it possible. Combustion thus becomes a metaphor for existence itself: producing, feeling, and creating involve a form of expenditure. It is not a matter of burning oneself out until one disappears, but of understanding that all light has an origin, and that this origin demands something in return. To exist, here, is to accept transformation in order to produce one’s own light.
