“Je me définis comme un chercheur, un féru de la peinture.”

In a contemporary, surrealist style, his art balances on a fine line filled with dreams and hope. He is one of Montreal's pioneering muralists, a genre that will leave its mark on the world of visual arts in the 21st century. An entrepreneur by nature with a powerful zest for life, Nicolas likes to vary his techniques and never ceases to surprise us. Galerie-Barsacq-Nicolas-Craig Behind each of his prints lies a message, a somewhat singular denunciation based on a striking symbol or word repeated over a thousand times. The viewer is taken by surprise, perceiving at first only the overall motif, then the double reading - visual and intellectual - becomes apparent. His approach can be playful or committed, but it remains imbued with pop art. In his paintings, Nicolas CRAIG adopts a surrealist approach, depicting pastel bouquets concealing iconic figures or clusters of deconstructed, stretched bodies. "Whether through fragmentation, superimposition or juxtaposition, I like to mix genres by confronting them with the human figure. The result is a reinterpretation of the female subject with a highly personal blend of themes, genres and textures. Whether using pop-culture images, or simply to bring out the organic side of painting, the intermingling of different types of imagery shapes my creation.
