Everything is only perception (Mimicry Series)

In this work from the *Mimétisme* series, the human figure unfolds as a fragile construction poised between appearance and disappearance. The face, fragmented by a network of vertical lines and geometric shapes, seems to both reveal itself and dissolve into the pictorial space. The image does not seek to establish an identity, but rather to question the very nature of perception. What we believe we see is never fixed: it is filtered, broken down, and reconstructed by the gaze. The contrasts between deep black, grays, and bursts of color create a visual tension that oscillates between presence and disappearance. Each fragment of the face becomes an autonomous territory, a unit of perception that exists fully only in relation to the others. This fragmentation evokes the way human identity is constructed: through layers, ruptures, and constant reinterpretations of the self. The vertical lines act as filters, interferences, or membranes between reality and its interpretation. They suggest that every image is an imperfect translation, a visual echo of the world rather than an absolute truth. In *Mimétisme*, the figure is not merely represented: it becomes a field of experimentation where the viewer is constantly invited to reconstruct what they believe they recognize. The face is no longer a fixed object, but a vibration, a presence in constant transformation.
