This work depicts a person who seeks to be loved while rejecting those who offer her that love. The standing figure appears to be surrounded by relationships she can attract and then abandon, while the small silhouettes piled into a gray heap evoke the people she has left behind. Holding a small puppet or silhouette at the tips of their fingers illustrates this need to control or manipulate the bonds they form. They long to be surrounded by others but are unable to fully consider those around them, gradually transforming their need for love into a series of broken attachments.
