This work depicts a moment when pent-up emotions begin to come to the surface. The figure, alone and motionless, reveals tears that seem to express a pain she no longer tries to hold back. Her distorted facial features and wide-open mouth reinforce this impression of an emotion that is difficult to contain. Between what is felt internally and what is ultimately expressed, the work captures a moment when one can no longer simply keep one’s emotions to oneself.
