Prise

The world squanders clues. A scent that arrives without its source. A rustle already swallowed up by silence. Most are lost. The precise absence that constricts the world. An ancient hunger gnaws at me and opens me up further. The void refines the selection. It provides a target. What I seek is already holding me back. *Prise* follows *Vestige* and introduces the first animal presence in *Héritage*. With the lynx, the series evokes a memory older than humanity: that of the body, of instinct, of what has learned to discern in order to survive. The work embodies the faculty of discernment. Among all that catches the eye, certain signs carry more weight than others. They shift attention, narrow the focus, and provide direction. In the lynx’s stillness, very little moves, yet the direction is already there. A trace takes precedence. A target emerges. Attention finally settles in the right place.
