We Are Friends

This work depicts the hold that toxic friendships exert, through three figures enclosed within a broken line that isolates their interaction from the rest of the composition. The green line, the central figure with the orange face, the smile forced by a masked figure, the red figure clinging to his back, and the vivid colors of the background graphically embody the manipulation, the emotional burden, and the facade maintained within a bond presented as friendly. By juxtaposing the signs of apparent closeness with the traces of control that run through the composition, the work captures the paradox of a relationship in which friendship gradually becomes a space of control and exhaustion.
