The Woman

This work depicts the imposed roles and expectations associated with female identity through a figure confined within the composition, whose body becomes the site of a confrontation between outward appearance and inner exhaustion. The made-up eyes, the tear-filled gaze, the baby held in her arms, the stretch marks, the gray strands of hair, and elements associated with beauty graphically embody the norms, responsibilities, and transformations that shape the image of womanhood. By contrasting the controlled appearance presented to others with the fragility concealed behind it, the work captures the tension experienced by an individual whose existence is gradually defined by the roles she must embody.
