Happy End

This work depicts emotional manipulation and abandonment concealed behind a facade of tenderness, through the figure of a cuckolded woman whose torso, split open to form a question mark, conveys uncertainty and emotional confusion. The monetary symbols, the red heart, the crossed-out love phrases, the checked boxes, the triangle linking the roles of opportunist, villain, and victim, as well as the inscription “almost true” graphically embody the unfulfilled promises, hidden motives, and ambiguity of a relationship presented as sincere. By juxtaposing signs of affection with the marks of rejection and erasure present in the composition, the work reveals the rift between hoped-for love and a relationship in which attachment becomes a form of exploitation.
