Enigma

This work depicts the precariousness of daily life and the transformation of basic necessities into a matter of survival, through a grocery bag used as the medium for a riddle inspired by the figure of the Sphinx. The handwritten text, the shape of the bag, the questions about its cost and what it yields, and the cycle between abundance, emptiness, and necessity graphically embody economic uncertainty, the rising value placed on basic necessities, and the growing difficulty in accessing what should be fundamental. By contrasting the banality of an everyday object with the complexity of the riddle it carries, the work captures the paradox of an era in which feeding oneself—once a matter of course—has become a problem to be solved.
