“Art does not seek to be understood. Sometimes it simply seeks to be felt.”

Painter · Saint—Samuel , Canada
Born in Sherbrooke in 1963, Rousso now lives in Saint-Hyacinthe. Drawn to materials and gestures from a young age, she explored enamel on copper, jewelry, and pottery, developing a deep sensitivity to textures and forms. After a long hiatus, she returned to creating in 2004, inspired by her daughter, then a design student. This rekindled her desire to paint more freely and to ground her work in a resolutely contemporary vision. Her encounters with renowned artists and the marked influence of Kline and De Kooning led her to develop a personal visual language. She favors spontaneous gestures, bold contrasts, and compositions that sometimes evoke architectural structures, where space, verticality, and balance play essential roles. Over time, ROUSSO has adopted a more minimalist approach, seeking to express the essential through simplicity: clean colors, precise gestures, and a significant emphasis on visual silence. Her work reflects a search for harmony between emotion and structure, intuition and rigor, in a constant dialogue with the surrounding space. Her works have been presented in solo exhibitions and symposiums and are found in several private collections. Guided by a vision where each creation is linked to its own karma, she offers themes of peace, gentleness, and simplicity, inviting the viewer to slow down and breathe. ROUSSO’s universe is a place where design meets abstraction, where the contemporary blends with the timeless, where the architectural and the minimalist become sensitive languages. Today, she continues her artistic exploration with renewed passion, remaining true to an ever-evolving approach.
