Gavlois makes walls bloom. Literally. In his practice, the tagger’s gesture — incisive, rapid, territorial — transforms into expansive floral forms, as though writing itself were trying to blossom. It is a visual transformation that points toward something larger: the possibility of constant evolution, of finding beauty where one expects brutality. > “Transforming tagging into floral forms, allowing it to evolve toward a gestural abstraction centered on movement and energy. Making walls bloom in order to breathe life into them.” With 15 years of graffiti practice behind him before turning to muralism in 2018, Gavlois arrived on the scene in Rosemont with a strong technical foundation and a clear artistic vision. His signature is immediately recognizable: broad and fluid gestures, forms that evoke both tags and flowers in bloom, and a gestural abstraction that preserves the raw energy of graffiti writing while sublimating it through vegetal imagery.
