THE APPROACH

If your plan doesn't work, change it and stay positive

Clément Girard taught himself to draw at a very young age. Over the course of his artistic career, he took private lessons, specializing in charcoal, pastel, and oil painting. Throughout his life, he has offered private instruction and participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. He set aside his first passions for a few years to pursue various careers and training programs—including floristry, pizza making, art therapy, dowsing, and more—before returning to the arts to pursue a degree in visual arts at the Université du Québec à Rimouski (1989–1991) and a degree in art education at Université Laval (1991–1994). He then taught the arts (visual arts, music, and drama) in Ontario for 20 years. Now back in Quebec for four years, he continues to create and exhibit his work. His dynamic approach and energy are contagious. Clément Girard is the “youngest old-timer” among art teachers.
