Woody Allen and His Double

When Woody Allen, a cult director from my teenage years, dons the role of the King’s jester, the play on mirrors becomes as funny as it is ambiguous! With his glasses firmly perched on his nose, this great neurotic has always offered us a unique perspective on our society. The scene is taken from one of his most famous films from the ’70s, *Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But Were Afraid to Ask*). In it, he played this poor clown alongside his utterly zany alter ego. In the background, the massive “SEX” sign refers to the film’s subject matter and perhaps to a current event that offended some. In any case, I still wanted to pay tribute to this genius creator who left his mark on my early years as a movie lover. Set against this vibrant fuchsia pink, this quirky, pop-art reinterpretation aims to playfully subvert the conventions of the classic portrait. And it suits him well.
