This work depicts a conflict stemming from control and jealousy within a relationship. The figure on the left appears to be expressing intense anger as she waves her arms, categorically refusing to allow her friend to see someone else. The figure on the right remains frozen in profile, enduring this prohibition without being able to express herself freely. She wants to maintain their friendship but is unable to get her friend to accept the people she is seeing, gradually turning the other person’s presence into a series of reproaches and restrictions.
