Merveille Cachée

‘Merveille Cachée’ by Ashley Simo is an intimate close-up portrait of a young woman whose large amber eyes hold the viewer with tenderness. Her face and shoulders are painted in knife strokes of powder pink, lilac, butter yellow and coral laid over warm brown patchworks, while her short curls are of pastel blue, lavender and mint. A single round earring, half gold leaf, half deep brown adds another layer of texture. With the background whose colors create a dreamy and luminous atmosphere, the work celebrates femininity, gentleness all in harmony with a quiet strength.
