“ Issues “ (2023)

This shows the tension between present and absence, the body in motion and the spirit in release. It’s about change. This piece captures the pulse of movement and the memory. A black figure striding forward with open arms. While a joyous, dreamlike presence emerges from the white swirl at the Center. The fractured forms and bold outlines speak timing space, smiling through the chaos , and the quiet power of simply being seen. Contemporary black abstract expressionism is a vital, evolving current in which black artist use non-representational or loosely figurative forms- gesture, color, geometry, material, and process to explore freedom, memory, identity, space and resistance, it builds on earlier abstract Expressionism while rejecting the historical exclusion of black only figurative or overly political work.
