“On the REM” is a work created in 2025. The concept behind this piece is unique: while I was taking the REM every day to get to college, one day, on my way home, I was fascinated by the young man sitting across from me. I discreetly took a photo of him, then reworked his face and clothes to move away from a simple copy of the original image. Once the portrait was finished, I added this small red poster in the upper right corner—a pictogram familiar to REM riders. This pictogram indicates safety and evacuation instructions.
