This self-portrait was created in 2025 as part of a visual arts course focused on self-portraiture and introspection. The work is inspired by the art of Georges de La Tour, a 16th- and 17th-century French painter and the undisputed master of chiaroscuro and candlelight. Eager to try my hand at this style, I immersed myself in the process by recreating this intimate lighting, while accentuating my features and imperfections to explore the dramatic effect of candlelight.
