Igor Bardykin is a Russian born visual artist, pianist, and composer based in Los Angeles. His practice brings together memory, music, and image-making, exploring how personal histories can take physical form through color, light, and layered materials. Memory Garden
Memory Garden grows from my childhood in Volgograd: flowers I grew, my grandmother’s roses, and marsh irises where I found solitude. Through synesthesia, these memories connect color and sound. Cyanotypes on silk are embedded in translucent acrylic layers on canvas, repeatedly sanded and hand-polished to a mirror finish. Images emerge and recede with light, echoing memory’s fragility. Works from the series were exhibited at The Juicy Leaf during the 2026 Frogtown Art Walk in Los Angeles.
Intervals - Chromatic Resonance
Rooted in Igor Bardykin’s lifelong synesthesia, Intervals unfolds a personal system in which twelve musical notes correspond to twelve colors. Relationships between pitches become encounters between color fields. Successive acrylic layers, sanded and polished to a mirror-like finish, evoke wood grain or produce optical illusions through fluorescent glazes. Reflecting the viewer and surrounding light, each painting gives musical tension and resonance a tangible presence. All works shown are sold.
