Memory Garden — F/G (A Private Garden)

Created as a personal commission, this work draws on the palms, flowers, and plants growing in the collector’s backyard. Their favourite botanical forms are brought together in an original composition designed by the artist, transforming a familiar garden into a personal landscape of colour and memory. Cyanotype imagery is embedded within translucent acrylic layers over a meticulously prepared, polished canvas. Repeated layering, sanding, and hand-polishing build depth around the botanical silhouettes, culminating in a mirror-like finish. Warm orange and deep green fields hold the plants beneath the surface, where their visibility shifts with the light and viewing angle. Part of the Memory Garden series, the work preserves a connection to a particular place and the everyday intimacy of living alongside its plants. Private collection, Los Angeles.
