Interval V - D/A♭ (2025)

Constructed through multiple translucent layers of fluorescent red, deep cyan, teal and darkened glazes, gradually polished between applications to create suspended depth and subtle optical vibration. The work explores a lowered fifth relationship, a tension between resonance and restraint. The upper field behaves like a luminous frequency or retained afterimage, while the lower register absorbs light into a cooler, submerged tonal space. Rather than functioning as pure geometric abstraction, the painting operates as a harmonic structure: a visual interval translated through colour, surface tension and layered luminosity. The fluorescent glazes create a shifting perception depending on distance and light conditions - oscillating between architectural object, illuminated screen and atmospheric colour field. Part of the ongoing Intervals series, where each composition is built like a chord progression: through balance, dissonance, memory and vibration rather than narrative imagery.
