Interval D-A (Blue and Orange) (2026)

Part of my Intervals series, this painting explores the relationship between musical pitch and color through my experience of synesthesia as a pianist and composer. D and A become two interacting fields: deep blue and warm orange, separated by a narrow, luminous band. The surface develops through repeated applications of acrylic color, sanding, and polishing. Earlier layers emerge through later ones, creating subtle shifts in tone, traces of previous gestures, and a sense of depth within the seemingly simple composition. The work translates a musical interval into a visual encounter, inviting the viewer to experience color as resonance, tension, and stillness.
