Symphony in Mouse Minor

I wanted to bring to life this clandestine, wildly energetic choir nestled on the rooftops of Paris. That moment of pure collective joy when our little mice—usually so discreet—take over the rooftops to sing their hearts out. Through this panoramic composition, I seek to capture the humor and exuberance of this charming series from my childhood. It’s a playful tribute to creative freedom and the little secret scenes that brought the French capital to life in the 1970s. To structure this visual field, I’ve arranged a frieze of dynamic characters, punctuated throughout by comic-book-style typography that runs along the canvas. My technique will always draw inspiration from the codes of Pop Art and the poster artists of the 1950s. With these very defined anthracite-gray lines drawn in dry pastel, each chorus member stands out from the background. I work the azure blue background with strong relief effects using a palette knife, which creates a raw texture reminiscent of a wall or a sky teeming with life. The splashes of bright color on the pom-poms and accessories contrast superbly with the gray fur and white dresses to create an immediate visual impact.
