I loved working on this project so much; it continues my artistic practice with this new tribute. In it, I explore a masterpiece of Warner Bros. humor: the Looney Tunes. My composition is based on pure visual irony: a bright green frog puts on a vaudeville show in the rain, brandishing his cane and top hat, while his exasperated owner remains frozen in the gray surroundings. My obsession with typography is evident here in the handwritten integration of the iconic lyrics from his little ditty, which brings sound and music directly into the heart of the canvas. My work continues to explore texture in all its nuances. What’s unique about this little scene is how the white diagonal lines simulate a driving rain, lending the work that atmosphere so characteristic of the scene. The outlines in dry pastels add a graphic roughness to the whole and give the drawing a sense of spontaneity. The powerful color contrast between the frog’s almost fluorescent green silhouette and the muted, gray, and earthy tones of the background perfectly maximizes the visual impact I wanted to achieve with this new painting.
