Poor Lonesome Cowboy

Lucky Luke goes from the Wild West to Pop Art—or when the man who shoots faster than his shadow sees life through rose-colored glasses! With this slender piece, I wanted to revisit the myth of the lone cowboy by completely breaking with its traditional conventions. I’ve swapped the arid plains of the Western for this textured pink background, creating a striking contrast with his legendary black-and-yellow vest. By taking on this icon of Franco-Belgian comics, I’m playing with the idea of reinventing a childhood hero for many young French speakers with a bold sense of irreverence. The still-smoking revolver, the skull-shaped cloud, and the onomatopoeia “POW POW” projected onto the canvas bring a real urban energy to the piece. By reimagining this intergenerational icon, I present a work that is both nostalgic and trendy, perfectly suited for contemporary interiors that appreciate bold art with a touch of humor.
