Don't Look Down

This new vertical painting features the iconic duo Tweety and his friend Sylvester the Cat in a most perilous situation. I wanted to capture the spirit of classic Warner Bros. cartoons for viewers, where the roles are reversed for our greatest enjoyment. The textures of the sky-blue background contrast beautifully with the dynamic silhouette of my Sylvester and the streamlined silhouette of the city below. The technique highlights bold, flat areas of color applied over a sky-blue background heavily textured with a palette knife, which lends real pictorial depth to the scene. The bold black outlines isolate the figures to give them immediate visual impact, while the gray, textured silhouette of the city adds a distinct sense of depth to the whole composition. A graphic piece that I intended to be funny and memorable—one that will captivate fans of retro humor.
