Oh, how I love my Snoopy transformed into a World War I flying ace. My composition is based on a visual narrative, pitting our hero in his doghouse against the famous Baron in a merciless battle. The typographic element that characterizes my work—falsely reproduced using a stencil—serves as a strong graphic element, typical of advertising imagery and pop culture comics. My painting stands out for its pervasive textures. First in the sky, then in the shades worked into micro-reliefs with a palette knife to create a vibrant surface that catches the light. My dry pastel outlines define the characters with a raw, energetic vigor, breaking away from the smooth style of the originals by Charles Schulz, that great artist. The color palette employs powerful thermal contrasts, juxtaposing the bursts of vermilion red from the niche and the enemy plane against the coolness of the azure background, instantly maximizing the visual and decorative impact of my painting.
