A very spontaneous piece that also served as a warm-up right before I painted my canvas “Ballet.” I owe this painting not to my imagination but to a photograph. I was fascinated by the contrast between the muscularity and the grace this woman exudes. I sketched her right away. I then added water effects (in green, because… well, that’s just how it is!) to highlight the fluidity and energy of her movements. I loved letting myself get carried away while painting her impossibly long legs and exaggerating her already very prominent muscles. So there you have it! A very impulsive painting, created without overthinking it. Hence the title! It’s amazing how enjoyable it is to paint dance!
