Vodniciar Vladimir «Vibrant Bouquet of Flowers» — 45x61cm oil on canvas 2014-2026

I started this Bouquet in 2014 and finished it now in 2026. I was inspired to balance the colours of this Bouquet and to render the vibration between the colours of each element. I painted with raised oil paint strokes using the impasto technique to accentuate the texture of the petals and the expressiveness of the flower forms, and more importantly, of the background. Given that the intense burgundy red flowers dominated so much through both their intense colour and their darker tonal shade, it was necessary to find some colour shades for the background next to them that would resonate chromatically with these flowers. That is why I painted the background to vibrate chromatically through turquoise-azure combined with the nearby accents of luminous pink, which balance as a whole the heavy colour of the intense burgundy red of the large flowers in the Bouquet. It is important that this particular chromatic contrast accentuates the chromatic depth of the Bouquet and visually separates the flowers from the surrounding space. It is precisely this alternation of warm and cool colours that creates an intense chromatic vibration and makes these colours vibrate next to one another. Through the varied directions of the palette knife strokes, together with the relief of the paint, and precisely through the colours I chose, I combined all the elements in the Bouquet so that they resonate with a visual rhythm that leads the eye towards the burgundy flowers and the alstroemerias, together with the turquoise-azure colours of the background. I chose a thick white plastic floating frame for this painting, which fits over the back of the painting, and the colours of the table on which the vase is placed work in combination with the white of the frame, making the entire Bouquet resonate chromatically.
