Rosine (2026)

A fully painted portrait: the face emerges with almost photorealistic precision, the curly, graying hair, the glasses catching the light, every wrinkle, every crease around the eyes and mouth, all rendering with an almost tender fidelity the texture of a face observed at length. The gaze, lowered and pensive, lends the canvas a quiet intimacy, as if the subject had been captured in a moment of pure presence, without posing or artifice. Rosine relies solely on the painterly medium, a choice that fully aligns with her approach of making the traces of lived experience visible through meticulous detail and of turning the likeness itself into an act of remembrance. By naming the work after a first name, the painting asserts itself as a direct tribute, an intimate anchor at the heart of a practice that, elsewhere, favors anonymity and the fragmentation of the body. Here, it is the entire face, identified and named, that becomes the locus of transmission.
