Graft

An aged face, gazing upward and wearing glasses, fills the canvas, rendered with photorealistic precision: the wrinkles around the eyes, the metal frames of the glasses, and the subtle nuances of the skin bear witness to a life etched into the flesh. On the left, a dense, sculptural white floral embroidery is anchored directly into the canvas and spills over onto the painted face, like an organic graft taking root in the depicted flesh. The thread does more than simply adorn: it grows, colonizes, and in places replaces the skin itself. *Greffe* thus explores this moment of junction, almost surgical, between two materials, two temporalities, and two gestures (the brush and the needle), where the image, fragile and evanescent, is taken up, supported, and extended by another body: that of the textile and the memory it carries.
