The sap

A fragment of an aged face, an eye with crinkled eyelids, surrounded by wrinkles and the texture of the skin, occupies the center of the canvas, painted with photorealistic precision in which each furrow becomes a trace of memory and lived experience. All around it, white embroidery in the shape of twigs, composed of small berries and delicate leaves, encircles and crisscrosses the face like a plant branch that seems to have sprung from the flesh itself. The thread, fine and tree-like, evokes the flow of an invisible sap, that of heredity, of what is silently passed down from one body to another, from one generation to the next. In this way, *La Sève* transforms the face into fertile ground: the skin becomes the place from which this textile shoot emerges, as if family memory continued to circulate, nourishing and causing to bloom what, on the surface, fades with age.
