Cutting

An eye stands out in the center of the canvas, painted with almost clinical precision: the eyelid shaded in a vegetal green, the dark, gleaming iris, and the fine pink veins of the surrounding skin come together to form a fragment of a face captured in all its carnal intensity. On either side, two swirls of white embroidery, curled leaves and stems, frame the gaze like two shoots springing from the flesh itself. The thread, here worked into delicate arabesques, evokes the act of taking a cutting: that fragment of a plant taken to be replanted elsewhere, capable of generating new life from a single piece. In this way, *Bouture* makes the painted eye the starting point of a silent regrowth, an image taken, transmitted, and reworked by the thread, which continues to live and branch out beyond the body from which it originated.
