Scar

"Scarring" presents a psychic landscape of mending and healing. Scattered wounds bleed out a variety of colours - mauve, blue, pink and turquoise - dripping in every direction on the canvas. Torn paper and pieces of canvas attempt to prevent further bleeding and to facilitate repair. The scene is chaotic as restorative forces work frantically to contain the agony emanating from the wounds endured. Healing is nonlinear with no promise of a quick, clean fix. The bright hues of orange and yellow introduce playfulness into an otherwise disorienting and torturous process. Through play, healing becomes a dynamic landscape, an opportunity, however fragile, for pleasure and sorrow to coexist.
