Wendy is a Montreal-based artist creating vibrant, colorful, attention-grabbing canvases inspired by nature and conservation. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, she began painting at the age of two alongside her artist mother, Maggie. She studied Fine Arts at John Abbott College in Montreal; Art Education at Concordia University in Montreal; and graduated in Printmaking from The Emily Carr College of Art & Design in Vancouver, B.C. She has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows across Canada. Wendy is passionate about the Earth and the environment and has a deep love and compassion for all creatures, great and small. She enjoys a close relationship with the ocean, both above and below, as a competitive stand-up paddleboarder and a lover of all aquatic citizens. She brings this passion to her colorful works, which are intended to open viewers’ eyes and heighten awareness of endangered species, the climate crisis, and plastic pollution. Using acrylic paints, colored pencils, pastels, paper, collage, and words, she creates canvases with vibrant colors and texture, blending stories and messages with a playful, whimsical touch. In 2007, Wendy partnered with her friend Sharon Auclair to create “Dung Beetle Design,” a small company promoting eco-conscious products. With Wendy’s artwork as the focal point and Sharon’s skills in sewing, web design, and office management, they design and create functional art pieces. When not expressing her passions through art, Wendy is an enthusiastic SUP athlete and teacher/coach; a Level 2 Certified Natural Fitness Trainer; a Certified Ashtanga Teacher; a wife and the mother of two young adult sons. “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” — Maya Angelou
