THE APPROACH

colour simply is. Like breathing, it is one of life's gift!

Paintings by Mona was born in Timmins, Ontario, to French-Canadian parents. She grew up with five siblings, including a twin, and attended the French educational system through grade 13. She later studied nursing in Toronto, Ottawa, and Hamilton, completing her nurse practitioner program. She has been married to Marc, a retired high school teacher, for more than 50 years, and together they have three adult children who work for the federal government in Ottawa. As a child, she enjoyed doodling, sketching, and spending time in nature—camping, fishing, and exploring the wilderness. A breast cancer survivor who also lives with the sequelae of Lyme disease, she discovered her passion for the fine arts at the age of 69 after a neighbor invited her to weekly painting sessions. She now paints every day, often into the night as she requires little sleep, producing on average one canvas per day. Her work spans representational (non-abstract) pieces often inspired by landscapes and nature, as well as vibrant abstracts. Painting has become a meditative practice for her, creating a personal sanctuary of peace and emotional expression. Her art has gained recognition, with pieces featured in galleries and placements in New York, Russia, London, and other online sites. One of her paintings was selected for the cover of the anthology “Road to Recovery: Pandemic’s Aftermath.” Critics and masters have praised her rapid development over a short period of time.
