When Life Gives You Russians

A Russian RD 42 grenade reimagined as a Lemon-ade. From Jerre Teague's "Fog of War" series, this tongue and cheek jab at Russia's invasion of Ukraine takes an old proverb and gives it new life. This artwork presents a surreal composition featuring a hand grenade with a sliced lemon inside, replacing the typical explosive core. The grenade is rendered in muted browns and grays, contrasting sharply with the vibrant yellow and orange hues of the lemon. Surrounding the central object are multiple toy soldier figures, painted in a simplified, almost cartoonish style against a bright yellow background. The piece combines elements of absurdity and maximalism, evoking a tension between whimsy and darker themes of conflict and chaos.
