Vodniciar Alina Artwork «White Carnations» — 28x37,5cm watercolor on paper 2009

I painted this Bouquet of White Carnations in 2009 on a thick watercolor sheet, inspired by the contrast between the whiteness of the flowers and the intense red color of the vase in which they are placed. I have mentioned on other occasions that red, for me — and I believe for every artist — is a color that cannot be overlooked. There is so much beauty surrounding us in things that may appear simple at first glance. Once again, this play between cool and warm shades makes everything vibrate. I tried to express this visible contrast of the intense red vase, which naturally takes much of the attention, while the small vase beside it and the white flowers create balance within the composition. This painting is a memory from 2009 and reflects the way I painted during that period. The Artwork was brought by us to Canada in 2012 together with other works. It is painted on a thicker type of watercolor sheet and is not framed.
