These small flowers, the wild daisies, are very widespread in my country of origin. They are a symbol of modesty, purity, and calm. These innocent little beauties always inspire me during their blooming season. I have painted them many times, and I especially like to place them in a glass vase, as in this Artwork. I painted this Bouquet of Daisies in 2007, with the desire to express through watercolor the whiteness of these small flowers, which meets the warm yellow of the wildflowers and the vibrant green of the bouquet’s foliage. What I love about watercolor is the possibility of allowing colors to merge, so that the free watercolor strokes let the light flow through the composition while preserving the freshness and spontaneity of the moment. I chose a broad composition in which the bouquet opens in all directions, creating a feeling of abundance and freedom characteristic of these wildflowers. I sought to express the delicacy of the daisies through subtle contrasts between the whiteness of the petals, the golden centers of the flowers, and the different shades of green in the leaves. I allowed the background to remain light and transparent, so that the flowers would appear luminous and full of life. Through this Artwork, I wanted to pictorially convey the emotion of this moment when the light falls upon the small flowers and they gently bend, forming a bouquet. For me, this Artwork is a memory from the year 2007, when I was working at the Art School and, as today, I was inspired to paint bouquets of flowers from nature. The Artwork is simply the painted watercolor sheet of paper, the painting is not framed.
