L’âme du bois (2025)

Balance emerges from the dialogue between solid form and empty space. Carved from spalted cherry burl, this sculpture combines a sense of substance with visual lightness. Warm shades of honey, amber and pale pink bring out the wood’s character, while polished surfaces alternate with subtly textured areas. Rather than imposing a shape on the wood, the artist follows its natural structure. Growth rings, knots and grain guide the composition. Soft contours and defined edges catch the light, revealing different openings and depths as the viewer moves around the sculpture.
