This work depicts daily routine and how it can gradually trap the individual in a repetitive and exhausting cycle. The fragmented faces, tightly packed silhouettes, suspended handrails, and lines crisscrossing the composition evoke the world of the subway and the repetitive journeys that punctuate daily life. The inscriptions, notably “Smile, live life to the fullest” and “The escape begins here,” introduce an element of irony into this existence where work, commuting, and rest seem to follow one another with no real escape. Caught between the constant movement of daily life and the feeling of always staying in the same place, the work reveals a routine that ultimately reduces the individual to a mere passenger in their own life.
