The Bearer of Hope (2024)

Textile art piece: original illustration printed on fabric, collage featuring layered textile appliqués and patchwork, and thread embroidery. This piece was born from a line heard in a song—"Let the man from the mountain run away with your heart"—and from mourning my father. The fox is a creature that moves between worlds in many traditions. It is elusive, yet it carries—with an almost tender grace—what we hold most precious. Inside the animal’s body lies an intimate scene: a man seen from behind, beneath a tree with golden leaves, with a star-patterned heart nestled in the branches like a piece of fruit or an offering. It is my father, just as I choose to keep him—not gone, but carried along, watched over, and safe within the fox’s journey through time. *The Bearer of Hope* is not a work about loss, but about what we choose to carry with us in its wake. Framing included: mat, embroidered signature, UV-resistant acrylic glazing Artwork dimensions (unframed): 27 X 20 inches
