The patient

This 2025 work was one of the most stimulating projects I’ve ever had the opportunity to undertake. As part of my studies, I was tasked with creating a piece that explored the concept of space within a painting. What could be more natural than to approach this theme from a surrealist perspective? So I turned to the painter I admire most in this field, René Magritte. As a source of inspiration, I chose *The Therapist*, painted by Magritte in 1937. I imagined a counterpart to this work by depicting the patient (hence the title) whom the therapist is seeing again, and the result is revealed before your eyes. A headless young man, dressed in anachronistic clothing, emerges from the darkness of a pitch-black room. Around him, a setting divided into two landscapes at different levels frames his arrival for his session.
