“I” HAVE NO WAY FROM HERE: THE LAND OF DREAM

In my work, Subjectivity is accidental. It is not narrated, projected, or programmed through gesture. It “appears.” Indeed, my work is primarily semiotic. It is the signs, lines, points, and colors that speak, developing within a set of psychic and spatial coordinates that carry within them a lyrical condition. Here, I worked on a large canvas. It is a critique of the text, of intentionality, and of reality as objective mediation that I am critiquing. For me, reality is an autonomous entity, a cerebral being; it is the domain of fable and emptiness. Thus, fiction is never within us; fiction is the world itself, constantly destroying and recomposing itself as if it were seeking to define the contours of its own agency, its own coordinates. It, too, has nightmares, searches for its place. Who, then, is “I”? As if in a prophetic impulse, I composed this work while listening to the theme songs of the cartoons of my childhood, as if, through these territories of childhood, I was reminding myself that I have never been anywhere. I dream.
