Glib

Smiling, because it is expected. You're expected to be young and pretty. You are rendered "Worthless" when it fades. Hide your tears, because they don't care. It's what is on the outside that ever seems to matter. This vibrant artwork titled "Glib" features a central figure of a young girl with pigtails adorned with daisies, rendered in a realistic style with warm skin tones and expressive eyes. Surrounding her is a chaotic collage of graffiti-style elements, cartoon characters, and bold text in various colors, creating a maximalist and absurdist backdrop. The composition juxtaposes the innocence of the girl with the overwhelming, colorful, and somewhat dark urban imagery behind her, reflecting a tension between whimsy and underlying complexity. The piece uses mixed media techniques to blend portraiture with street art influences, evoking a mood that is both playful and unsettling.
