Summer Sunset

This abstract acrylic painting on canvas is titled Pink Clouds. I was inspired by the pink clouds you see in the summer sky, especially at sunset. There are many colours including pink neon, orange neon, gold , dark blue, turquoise, and green. There are several layers to this painting, and when I scraped it during the mark making process, you can see some of the underlayers. Previously, the painting was an incredible hot pink with gold and blue, but I wanted to subdue and mute it. I added white acrylic to some pouring medium and as it was drying, I did a lot of mark making throughout the painting with the edge of a spatula. You can see the bright pink, bright orange, blue, gold and green colour underneath, but the white on top with white acrylic and pouring medium adds the feeling of the lightness and the visual pale white of the clouds. The pink is very strong and bright. I balanced this bright pink and bright orange acrylics along with with the cooler colors of turquoise and ultramarine blue.
